IVO Cutelarias, Lda., is a family-oriented company, that was born in 1954 in Santa Catarina. Created by entrepreneur Mr. João Ivo Peralta and his wife Miss Maria das Dores Cabrita. They started off their small workshop with three employees and so began the production of knives and razors, which were marketed at the time throughout the country of Portugal by João Ivo himself.

By the 1970s their children became part of  the company with a vision that went beyond their local business market, which lead the organization into the international market, the new generation demanding a huge challenge in achieving a market unknown and fiercer competition.

In the 1980s there was a continued expansion into the major international markets, which continued the development of the company and brand recognition for IVO Cutelarias in Portugal and in the world. The company have investment in fairs in the domestic segment and professional market of meat it are strategic the in international trade brand.

	1939
	João Ivo Peralta and Antonio Ivo Peralta initiated the sale of pocket knives in markets and churches, traveling by bicycle to Torres Vedras, Caldas da Rainha, Lourinhã, Alcobaça, Nazaré, and among other places in Portugal.

	1950
	João Ivo Peralta creates a store with his brother António Ivo Peralta for the marketing of knives.

1954
	The foundation of the company João Ivo Peralta & Filhos, Lda by João Ivo Peralta with his wife Maria das Dores Cabrita. They constructed the family business out of his home with three employees.

	Changing Facilities - Establishment of the Factory in Santa Catarina - Caldas da Rainha

	1977
	First Exports to Morocco

	1989
	Expansion of manufacturing facilities

	1993
	Restructuring of business strategy, appears in the IVO Cutelarias, Lda., with their children, Miss Vivina Peralta and Mr. António Peralta.

1994
	Acquisition of new facilities for production of Pocket Knives

1999
	Construction of a plant for the production of forged knives. The only Forge factory in Portugal Development of new products and new production processes. The Virtu Line known for having its stainless steel cable was created and distinguished for being an excellent product.

	2001
	Core Design Award with the Line Virtu in Sweden

	2002
	Implementation of robotic machines in the production line by the IVO Cutelarias Cooperation with help from the University of Coimbra which aided in the overall production of the manufacturing process of the cutlery

	2005
	“Prémio de Diseño”  was awarded to the Virtu Line in Cuba

2007
	The IVO Cutelarias, Lda., becomes a member of the “Compro o que é nosso”. This supports the Portuguese businesses and markets, by encouraging the purchases of goods made in Portugal.
